11/20

  • At least 5 people were killed and 25 were wounded due to a shooting at an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
  • Elon Musk reactivated former President Trump’s Twitter account. The former president’s account was suspended for his tweets leading up to the Jan. 6 insurrection.

11/21

  • At least 268 people were killed due to a 5.6 magnitude earthquake in Indonesia.
  • SMART Transportation Division, one of the largest railroad unions, voted to reject a deal with the White House by 50.9%. The strike threatens the shipment of goods during the holidays, coal shipments, the drinking water supply, and passenger rail. According to the Association of American Railroads, the U.S. economy could lose $2 billion per day if the workers strike.
  • The suspect of the Club Q mass shooting, Anderson Lee Aldrich, was arrested on preliminary counts of murder and bias-motivated crime causing bodily injury, but the charges may differ once Aldrich is released from the hospital. Additionally, it has been revealed that an army veteran and a drag performer* subdued the shooter before law enforcement arrived.

11/22

  • In his final White House briefing, Anthony Fauci urged Americans to get vaccinated.
  • Senator Lindsey Graham testified before a Georgia grand jury investigating the attempts to overthrow the 2020 presidential election (see 11/1).
  • The U.S. Supreme Court cleared the release of former President Trump’s tax returns (see 11/1).

11/23

  • 6 people were killed in a Virginia Walmart shooting after the manager opened fire before killing himself. The gunman was identified as Andre Bing.
  • The Georgia state Supreme Court temporarily reinstated its six-week abortion ban.
  • The United States will send Ukraine another $400 million in military aid.
  • Department of Justice prosecutors reached out to representatives of former Vice President Pence, seeking his testimony in the investigation against former President Trump.
  • Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski won reelection to represent Alaska, and Democratic Representative Mary Peltola was elected to her first full-term, after being elected to finish Representative Don Young’s term over the summer. The state used ranked-choice voting for both races.

11/24

  • E. Jean Carroll filed a new sexual assault lawsuit against former President Trump (see 10/19).
  • President Biden reiterated his demand for a ban on assault weapons following the Virginia Walmart mass shooting (see 11/23).
  • 10 people died in an apartment fire in Xinjiang, China. The victims’ doors were locked from the outside due to China’s “zero-COVID” policy, preventing them from escaping.

11/25

  • City officials said that the Virginia Walmart gunman bought the gun he used in the shooting hours before he opened fire and left what was labeled a “death note” (see 11/23).
  • The White House resisted declaring the flu and other respiratory an emergency after the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association sent a letter to President Biden and Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra.
  • At least 3 people were killed and 11 were wounded after a gunman opened fire at two schools in Brazil.
  • Former President Trump hosted white nationalist and antisemite Nick Fuentes and Kanye West at an event at his Mar-a-Lago resort.
  • Demonstrations in Urumqi emerged following the Xinjiang apartment fire. Protesters believe that the country’s COVID-19 restrictions were a factor in the deaths (see 11/24).

11/26

  • Early voting in Georgia began in nearly two dozen counties for the runoff between Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker (see Election Results).
  • The U.S. authorized Chevron to pump oil in Venezuela following the signing of a humanitarian agreement between the Venezuelan government and the opposition group.
