  • Fighting in Sudan resumed almost immediately after the expiration of a 24-hour ceasefire.
  • Ted Kaczynski, also known as the Unabomber, died in prison at 81.
  • A tanker truck carrying gasoline caught fire under an elevated section of the I-95 in Philadelphia, causing the highway to collapse.

  • Former Scotland First Minister Nicola Sturgeon was arrested in connection to the possible misuse of approximately $750,000 for the Scottish National Party in 2017 (see 2/14).
  • The Associated Press reported that Ted Kaczynski died by suicide due to his suffering from late stage-cancer (see 6/11).

  • At least 6 people were killed following a Russian missile attack in Kryvyi Rich, Ukraine, President Zelenskyy’s hometown.
  • Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll announced that the southbound section of the 1-95 bridge that was damaged will be demolished and rebuilt (see 6/11).
  • JPMorgan Chase reached a $209 million settlement with one of the victims who accused Jeffery Epstein of sexual assault and spoke on behalf of herself and other victims, claiming that the bank facilitated Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women and girls.

  • Former President Trump pleaded not guilty to criminal charges over his handling of classified documents kept at his Mar-a-Lago resort (see 6/10).
  • At least 103 people died after a river boat capsized in the Niger River.

  • Miami Mayor Francis X. Suarez launched his campaign for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
  • At least 79 migrants drowned after an overloading boat capsized near Greece.
  • Protestors marched through Warsaw and several other cities to protest Poland’s anti-abortion laws after a woman died due to the inability to end a pregnancy.
  • Texas Gov. Abbott sent a bus load of 42 migrants to Los Angeles.
  • 9 more women filed a lawsuit in Nevada accusing Bill Coby of sexual assault.

  • The Republican National Committee declined Asa Hutchinson’s request to modify the RNC’s requirement that all Republican presidential candidates must pledge to support the eventual nominee, stating that he will not vote for a convicted felon in response to former President Trump’s indictment.
  • The Supreme Court upheld the 1978 Indian Child Welfare Act, which gives relatives and tribes preference in the adoption of Native American children.

  • At least 40 people were killed after the Allied Democratic Forces, a group of terrorists linked to ISIS, attacked a school in Uganda.
